Built for demanding workshops, the Axminster Professional AP460DS 460mm Drum Sander is excellent for board, panel and frame sanding.
It has a robust fixed-head configuration, so unlike traditional open-ended models, the fixed drum head enhances the structure and the overall heavy duty design provides excellent stability and enhanced machine rigidity.
The open ended design allows for a sanding capacity of up to 920mm with a double pass, or 460mm in a single pass – ideal for wide panels and larger workpieces. The sanding thickness capacity is between 5 – 100mm.
Powered by a quiet 1.5kW motor through twin Poly V-belts, it delivers efficient torque transfer and reduced vibration for smoother operation. It has variable speed, so you have full control over the conveyor. The feed system features a cloth-backed abrasive conveyor belt running over a precision ground cast iron bed, adjustable from 0 to 4 m/min to suit your material and finish requirements. The bed can be adjusted in height and allows for precise sanding thicknesses to be achieved. The self-cooling aluminium drum minimises heat build up and extends the life of the drum and abrasive.
The bed measures 460mm x 465mm and is supported by four sturdy columns to ensure accuracy and minimise vibration. It is synchronised via a chain-driven mechanism for consistent height adjustment. A depth scale is also included for easy adjustment of thickness.
The 100mm precision balanced sanding drum is aluminium to ensure accuracy and to limit vibration.
Dust extraction is supported via a 62mm outlet. While a collection bag is included, we recommend pairing the sander with an extractor offering a minimum airflow of 795 m3/hr for optimal performance.
A storage cabinet is also included; a perfect space for all your loadings and conveyor belts.
